Aloha friends,

I hope you had a great week. I had a busy one thats for sure. My favorite job this week was working at a shoot for Katharine Maria Wallinger. She's an incredible milliner, who is coming up fast. I can't wait to show you guys some snaps from the shoot.

Ooooh and I also wanted to share a pic of my new tattoo! I had it done while I was working at the tattoo shop a couple weeks ago. Thanks Luke Bolton from Madam Butterfly's Tattoo Parlor... Call ME! ( hehehe ) xxx

Right, now heres the thing, I need some help with my wedding dress...

I have found the perfect place to have my dress made

I have found the perfect style and cut of my dress

I have found three prints that I absolutely adore, I just can't seem to whittle it down to one! Eeeek!

I would more than appreciate some help with this. I am having my dress made by Whirling Turban, they make the most beautiful dresses. I wanted to use fabric that was really bright and special. Katherine from WT recieved a hot tip from Alfred Shaheen's daughter to keep a look out for some of his newly released fabric. They are releasing some of his original fabric, some absolutely gorgeous prints. I have been searching and searching and loving and hating, and hating and loving, and these are the 3 that I have my eyes on. Now I just can't seem to choose which one...

1. Fish, fish gorgeous fish!!

2. I love these leis, beautiful colors but are they too pretty and soft for me?

3. More leis, beautiful leis! I really love this, so many colors to pick out of the fabric, but is it too dark?

Betty's Getting Married!

This past Christmas holiday, my darling Ben popped the question. Of course I said "Yes!!" I can't even describe how happy that made me. We have decided to push the wedding forward, have a small family and close friends day and then in a few months have a huge party for all of our friends.

Here is my ring :) I adore it!

How could I say no?

Right, now I have until August to plan our pefect day! Phew* We are getting married at the Hastings Museum in the Durbar Hall, its an incredible room. I have decided against cake and have gone up the Krispy Kreme rout haha but I tell you what, hardest part so far are the bridesmaids dresses. I have a few lovely dresses in mind. However if any of you have any suggestions for some lovely dresses to go along with a Hawaiian wedding dress, I would greatly appreciate it. By Hawaiian wedding dress, I'm defininetly not talking about a white dress! (baahaha) Well I had better get on with things but I will keep you posted on what's happening.

Brighton Tattoo Convention 2012

The 5th Brighton Tattoo Convention was the last weekend of January. It was two whole days of fun times! I came down on Friday to setup, I was delighted to find out that our stall was across from my good friends at Sailor Jerry Uk. From then on I knew we were going to have a good time.

Saturday morning we arrive bright and early to finish setting up. Ben Davies, my fiance was tattooing for the weekend with everyone from Madam Butterfly's Tattoo Parlor. I finally see my stall mate Kessie running along with lovely Sarika! Lady K Loves has arrived! My friend Sascha Sevic from Dragon Tattoo in Holland comes by to say hello and conferms our appointment for Sunday, and finally Rebecca from Madam Butterfly's stops by with a big hug and smile. What a fantastic way to start the weekend!

It was a very successful weekend for myself and Lady K Loves. I was chuffed to see so many girls wearing You Make Me Blush hair treats! Very cool. Lots of cuties sitting down for a lippy application or for some perfect peepers. Every time I looked over at Lady K Loves they were busy! We barely had time to speak.

Sunday came and went so fast! My tattoo appointment was for 12pm, I was so excited! Sascha and I had been planning it for a few months and finally it was time. Sascha is a very talented tattooist and I met him during my Holland trip. He's a member of a wicked car club called the Trashers. He is also a MEGA HUGE fan of Star Wars. I love Star Wars but Sascha LOVES Star Wars. Thats why I thought he would be the best person for my tattoo, C-3PO and R2D2 in a traditional heart. "Best Friends" haha. Sascha finished my tattoo in the crazy fast time of 2 hours! I am so happy with my new tattoo, I can't wait for the next one we have planned for the London Convention... very exicing :D

My gorgeous friend Jack came for the Sunday, he is part of the You Make Me Blush team. Jack is a very talented hair dresser who does both mens and womens hair. Like myself Jack looks to the past for inspiration, I just can't wait to do more work with this lovely fella!

Sadly I didn't get many good snaps :( However there were some people kind enough to let me use some of their photos for the blog! Happy days :) Heres my weekend in photos!

I had so much fun, I met so many beautiful people and I just can't wait till next year!

Bow & Crossbones had a really neat competition in 2011, the winner would be the face of Bow & Crossbones for 2012. There were many entries, finally the competition was whittled down to eight beauties. The public chose the winner, the stunning Miss Cherry on Fire! This brazillian beauty was an absolute breeze to work with, what a lovely lady.

I was lucky enough to be a part of their first shoot with Miss Cherry on Fire. Myself on makeup, Kessie May on hair, and the super talented Neal Reed of http://www.retrophoto.co.uk/ That guy can really take a photo!

One day a while back I was on my way to do some work with Jameson Cult Films, hauling my makeup across London, when I had to stop at a cash point. While I was waiting a lovely man asked if he could take a few snaps for the Sunday Times, he gave me his card and of course I said "Yes!!" It was very exciting, and a couple months passed and one Sunday, low and behold I found myself in the back of the Style Magazine in the Times! I was and still am chuffed about that.

I am very excited to be a new feature writer for a new magazine called The Vintage Rag Mag. I will be doing a monthly feature on who's who and whats new. Exciting things that are happening. Well things that I think are exiciting and happening haha. It's a very cool free magazine about vintage style for men and women. Verity and Gemma from the Vanity Box also have a monthly feature on the world of beauty. This month in particular I'm loving their article on Eyeliner. I am also very proud to have been a part of two covers for the magazine with the gorgeous Miss Jessica Orbit. What a star!

Rewind! Starting with Rockin' Jalopy Motorama.

Lets start with some November fun!

I was lucky enough to set up my beauty parlor at Rockin' Jalopy Motorama in Holland last November. You Make Me Blush went international! I took along Verity from The Vanity Box, who is mighty fine at vintage hair. We made a great team :)

We had no idea what to expect! We set up next to the lovely Wilma from Bib and Tucker. She made us feel at home, and introduced us to so really lovely people. There were some amazing cars at this hot rod event, really talented pin stripers, and all sorts of traders. Lots of rockers, boppers, metal heads, and black t-shirt brigade. We felt right at home. We had a very busy weekend getting girls ready, and we met so many lovely people! We went to Amsterdam on our last day. It was such cool place, there is so much to see. We didn't get a chance to go to the new Tattoo Museum, thats first on the agenda for my next visit. We went to the sex museam, which was so funny. We walked around for ages looking at all the beautiful buildings and canals. We ate some amazing food ( Verity loves the dim sum ) and had all sorts of adventures. Finally it was time to go home, our flight was delayed because of the fog so we had to get a bus from Holland to Germany and get the last flight out of Germany. Boy was it good to get home that night! Now I miss all my friends in Holland, and I just can't wait to go back to the Autotron for Rockin' Jalopy Motorama 2012!

What a crazy summer! July, August and now September! *Phew* The Hotrod Hayride was at the end of July, what a fun event. More glamping, beautiful cars, amazing stalls, a whole ocean of turn ups and quiffs. Even a family of lovely ladies serving proper coffee out of an airstream, open late! It was such a good weekend. August was manic too, lots of makings and meetings and photoshoots. I can't complain, I love it! I even went to Lester with Sailor Jerry's Rum at Summer Sundae. Those Lester folk, what a bunch of great people. I managed to fit in a couple of photoshoots in August with Tom from Rockoptica and Kessie from Lady K Loves. September started and I went to my first wholesale trade show at LondonEdge. I had no idea what to expect. Luckly I shared a stand with Lady K Loves and right across was Cam from Bow and Crossbones! Nerves aside, it was a great weekend. Lovely people, beautiful girls, and a mental fashion show! What more could you want? Sadly the end of summer is near... but the fun never stops! Bring on the cold weather baby!

The Shakedown 2011

Arrived at the Shakedown with Kessie May from Lady K Loves. We had no idea what to expect, just high hopes for good weather and wonderful people. With the help of Wendy Joy, our official Glamping extravaganza began! A 6 person tent for 2 girls with air beds, duvets and a mini stove, it was basically a hotel! We set up our tent, set up our little stall and ready for cider! Mmmm... Lovely cider! A bit of rain, a bit of wind but mostly a sea of beautiful Rockabilly people. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday brought the sun and the fun. Awesome bands, amazing people, and a constant flow of coffee in vintage china from the Vintage Tea Rooms. I even managed to bag me a husband! A 3 year old named Danny who asked me to marry him over breakfast. He even went out and bought me a ring! How could I resist? The boy wore a mini prom dress for the weekend. Love Danny.

The music was great, Kickem' Jenny was amazing. The only way to describe her is a rockabilly Cindy Lauper. Great voice, and totally mad! She played with the boys from the Lady Killers, they had a wicked sound! We also saw the Polecats, they were fantastic! I felt like a proper groupie. What fun! Good food, good drink and once again, I can't say it enough. Great people! Lots of lovely girls leaving with a Lady K Loves items and some of my flowers. What a success, I can't wait to go again next year!

I had a great morning with Mat Keller from Southern Retro. Mat is the creator of the Southern Retro website "An on-going photographic project about individuals for whom reviving the past is part of their daily lives" He came from Brighton to Hastings to say hello and take some snaps. I was so nervous to have my photo taken ( I am usually on his side of the camera ) but Mat really kept me relaxed and it was over before I knew it! I can't wait to see the photos! Check out Mats new men's blog Tales Of a Southern Retro, finally something good for the boys! What a talented guy. We met up for lunch with Kessie from Lady K Loves who wore the most stunning pair of 50's sunnies... too hot for words! I tell you what, that girl always looks the part. What a woman! Counting down the days until the end of the month...Busy, busy Betty! Waiting on some new flowers to arrive, hurry up mail from Ohio!! Horrah! I finally went on my long awaited holiday! We went to Crete, between Kissamos and Chania. It was absolutely lovely. Hot, hot, hot, heat! We made use of our villas double pool fun. Goats on the beach, stray gooey eyed cats, greek yoghurt and honey, sand, hummingbirds, hibuscus everywhere, bright colored flowers growing like weeds, friendly locals, beautiful sunsets, what more could you want on a relaxing holiday? Happy to be home, have lots more flower fun up my sleeve. Lots of makeup work at the moment, very excited for my new Geo Bubble project! I am also working some really cool custom wedding hair pieces, and hopefully some new projects with Lady K Loves and Kate Murrell Photography... what a great start to a good summer! More photos coming soon...

There are quite a few mascaras that claim to give that false lash effect, they are usually too sticky or hard to layer and end up giving you a really, heavy clumpy look. For years I have been searching for that perfect mascara and Fibre Lash could be the one! The kit comes with 2 formulations: an Extansion Mascara and Lash Fibres. First a coat of the mascara, next the fibres, and last another layer of mascara. You can build and build your lashes with the fibres. I have never used a mascara like it! On my first application I did a light build up for the day time and it wore beautifully, on the next application I really built up the fibres for the evening, it looked amazing and guess what? No clumps! My boyfriend even noticed my new lovely lashes. This mascara is very easy to remove, no residue, and that means no panda eyes! Fibre Lash is well worth a try, and is in my top 5 favorite new products of this year.

This foundation is mega! Double Wear Stay-in-Place foundation really does stay in place all day. It is perfect for that flawless photo finish look. They claim a staying power of 15 hours and I totally agree, it last through heat and humidity. No need to use a powder, this lightweight makeup gives a matt finish. The coverage is quite heavy, not very nice if you have dry skin or patches, but mixed with a bit of moisturiser it gives a really lovley light cover and finish.

My favorite product on the market right now! Smashbox Jet Set Eyeliner is a gel based liner that gives you smooth, creasless lines that last all day! This waterproof eyeliner does not budge as it only has a 60 sec working time, so I would definetly recommend to use a cream or oil based remover.

The jar is made of glass and is about the size of a ten pence. Don't worry it may be small but my tiny jar has lasted since 2008. It can get dry at times, just score the surface gently and the liner should go back to a softer consistancy. Best used with an angle brush, I even softly fill in my brows at times with this liner. LOVE IT!

Finally the perfect tinted moisturiser!   You can wear this alone, as a primer or mixed with foundation, depending on the coverage needed. I personally think that alone gives beautiful coverage and lovely glow. With an SPF 15 what more could you need? I was working at an event this weekend and used nothing but concealer, you rebel and powder on most my clients, and the result was flawless.
